(All cars subject to inspection at any time!) BODY 1. Cars must be U.S. factory stock appearing bodies (can be made out of steel aluminum). No wedge bodies. No fiberglass body panels, but may have fiberglass roof. May have aluminum hoods and roof but must be shaped like stock roof. No flat roofs or sides. Body (including rear sail panels) must be stock appearing with body lines. 2. Window openings must be 12” high on driver and passenger sides. 3. Rear of body must have a 12” filler panel. Late model style rear bumper allowed. Rear cover not mandatory. 4. Must have stock appearing short track noses. Poly front bumper covers are allowed. Corners of bumpers must be capped, no sharp edges or open tubes. 5. All glass and chrome must be removed. 6. No rear spoilers or wings. 7. A minimum of three 3/8” steel bars must be installed on drivers side windshield opening. Screen is optional. 8. Wheel base must be minimum of 104” measured on both sides. ROLL CAGE 1. Must have full roll cage bars. All bars ( roll cage and internal cage) must be at least 1-½” steel tubing. 2. Must be a minimum of three 1-½” door bars on drivers side with gussets at stress points and a minimum of 2 bars on passenger side door. 3. Roll cage must be at least 6 points (more is strongly recommended) with tubing wall thickness at least .095”. Welding of cage must meet inspection. 4. Roll cage must be tied to front and rear tubing. 5. When buckled in seat, driver’s head with helmet must be below main hoop. WEIGHT 1. Car and driver must weigh a minimum of 2,800 lbs after race. 2. May only use lead weights, painted white with car number on weight. ( No barbells, tractor weights, etc.) 3. Weights must be securely mounted with one ½” bolt for every 25 lbs of weight. ( ex: 50lbs of weight must have 2 bolts) Do not use tape, wire, wrap ties, etc. to mount weights. SUSPENSION 1. Stock front stub frames only. Must extend from bumper to firewall or mid plate. 2. No tubular front stubs. 3. May run chassis tail section and frame rails. 4. No coilover eliminators. 5. No aluminum shocks, coilover shocks allowed. 6. Outside diameter of rear coil springs must be a minimum of 2-½” ( c/o type) or 4-½” (conventional type). 7. Fiberglass or steel leaf springs allowed if not altered, no half type suspensions allowed. 8. Leaf spring floaters or bird cages not allowed. 9. No fifth arm or Reese lift bars. 10. No torsion bars allowed. 11. One traction device allowed. It may be any spring, rubber biskit, or solid type bar (aluminum is allowed). It must run parallel to frame rails (front to rear). 12. One axle damper shock allowed ( must run parallel to frame rails, front to rear). 13. One shock allowed per wheel. No aluminum shocks. 14. Straight or J bar type panhard bar allowed. 15. Steel weight jacks/screws only. 16. Steel tubular upper A-frames allowed. 17. No means of chassis adjustment from cockpit allowed. 18. Except where specifically noted, no aluminum suspension parts. 19. Lower A-frames must be stock and left in stock location. 20. Front cross member must be stock and left in stock location ( may be notched for fuel pump). 21. Stock or fabricated spindles allowed. 22. Wide five hubs or steel wide five adaptors allowed. 23. Cast rotors only ( minimum thickness .810”). 24. Only one spring per side on rear. Mono leafs, by themselves allowed, must hold up weight of car. Mono leaf/coil combo systems not allowed. REAR END 1. Any standard U.S. auto or truck rear end allowed. 2. Quick change rear end not allowed. 3. Floater type rear end recommended. 4. No aluminum axles, tubes, axle housing, or center sections allowed. 5. Aluminum lowering blocks for leaf springs are allowed. STEERING 1. Quick release, racing type steering recommended. 2. Stock rack and pinion steering optional, no racing type allowed. 3. Steering quickner allowed no gears and chains. 4. Tie rods may be replaced with 5/8” heims and steel tubes. DRIVE SHAFT 1. 360 degree drive shaft hoop required must be constructed of at least ¼” x 2” steel. Hoop must be mounted no more that 6” back from U joint of drive shaft. 2. Aluminum or carbon fiber drive shafts not allowed. 3. Drive shaft must be painted white. ENGINE 1. Engine must be set back within 4” of foremost spark plug from upper-middle of ball joint. Off set 2” max. between frame rails. 2. Headers allowed, must exit under car. Cannot go through any body panels or fenders. No flex tubing headers. 3. Solid motor mounts allowed. 4. Aluminum intakes allowed. 5. Aluminum cylinder heads not allowed. 6. Aluminum engine blocks not allowed. 7. Must have an air cleaner. 8. Must run one 2 barrel or one 4 barrel carburetor. TRANSMISSION 1. Transmissions must have neutral, two gears forward, and reverse. 2. BERT transmissions are allowed. (No ball splines). 3. Racing clutches are allowed. BRAKES 1. Racing type master cylinders and brake pedals are allowed. 2. No floating brake caliper brackets. 3. Brake bias adjusters are allowed. 4. All four wheels must have functioning brakes. 5. Aluminum calipers are allowed. BATTERY 1. Battery must be totally enclosed in plastic battery box. 2. Must be securely fastened to floor with two 3/8” (minimum) bolts or have a fire wall between battery and cockpit area. FUEL 1. Fuel cell required (32 gallon max.) Must be securely fastened in trunk and must have a sealed fire wall between driver and fuel cell. 2. Bottom of fuel cell must be mounted above center line of rear end housing. 3. Fuel cell must have two 1/8” x 2” wide steel straps surrounding the cell for mounting. 4. There must be 20 gauge (minimum) steel case surrounding fuel cell. 5. Fuel cell must be mounted with grade #5 bolts. 6. Racing type braided fuel lines are highly recommended. No fuel lines to run through the interior. 7. Racing type gas pedal with toe loop required. 8. Gas pedal linkage must be made out of steel or aluminum round rod. No cable gas pedal linkages. Linkage must be free of kinks and binds. 9. No electrical fuel pumps. 10. May use racing fuel or alcohol. Alcohol upper end lube allowed. 11. No fuel injection. 12. No nitrous oxide. 13. No nitromethane. 14. No propylene oxide. WHEELS/TIRES 1. Steel wheels only (10” max.). 2. Bead locks allowed on 2 wheels. 3. Aluminum bolt pattern adaptor (1” wide max.) allowed. 4. Aluminum or steel wheel spacers allowed must slide over studs. 5. Maximum tire tread width is 10”, measured by “footprint”. No shaving of edge of tires to obtain 10” tread. 6. Aluminum wheels not allowed. 7. Each wheel must have 5 wheel studs and nuts. Studs must be torqued to minimum 80 lbs. 8. Wheel studs must be minimum ½” (5/8” recommended). 1” long nut mandatory. SAFETY 1. Aluminum racing seat required. Seat must be bolted down with grade #5 bolts and mounted at bottom and back. 2. No fiberglass or poly seats. 3. 3” wide 5 point racing harness required. Must use crotch strap. 4. Belts must be mounted to frame with grade #5 bolts at all five points. No chains, straps for attaching points. 5. Belts must be in excellent condition and no more than 2 years old. (Strongly recommend replacing belts yearly) 6. No bolts through webbing for mounting. 7. Full fire suits (one piece or pants and jacket) mandatory. Must fit driver and be in good condition. 8. Full face helmet required. Must meet or exceed Snell 1995 requirements. 9. Fire proof gloves and shoes strongly recommended. 10. Kill switch must be in easy reach of driver and safety crew. Switch must be clearly marked “on” and “off” and must be operable. 11. Arm restraints or drivers side window net recommended. (rules subject to change without notice) |
